Moving in the Right Direction

Today’s Inspiration
Your body will always tell you whether you are moving in the direction that is right for you by the way it feels. It is important to tune into your body each day and listen to what it is telling you. Most people feel a wrenching in their stomach or a tightness in their chest or throat; yet they never stop to ask ‘what am I really feeling right now and why’?
Coaching Tip
The bottom line is… when you feel good, you are on your right path and when you feel bad feelings it is an indication that you are either living with resistance, fear or trying to control everything in life. Practice tuning into your body (start right now) by asking ‘how am I feeling about what I am doing right now’? Get to know the difference between habitual negative thinking and change this to positive supportive thoughts; or whether you are truly doing something just to please others all the time. Your body will tell you everytime.

Your Next Steps

Today’s Inspiration
Every little step you take will always add up to the progress inside your vision, project or desired
goal. Stop thinking in forms of ‘I have to do it all Perfect Now, otherwise I won’t start it’. Just take the first step, then the next, then the next…Stay in a state of belief, hope and faith as you trust in taking your next steps.
Coaching Tip
Sound familiar! I have just had an ah ha! moment. You know the time when a light bulb goes off inside of you when you catch yourself doing something. (Yes, I too learn as I go and will never proclaim to have it all together because that will be the day I stop learning.) The distinction between ‘Understanding and Knowing’ what you want to Do and actually ‘Living the Experience’ are two really different end results showing up in life. Especially when I have a lot of projects on the go at any one time, it is so easy to get enmeshed and caught up in the overwhelming thoughts of ‘how am I going to get all this done’ and feelings of not getting anything done.
The truth is you are actually accomplishing and your feelings and thoughts are clouding you from seeing your results because you are not staying in the moment and keeping your mind focused on what you have chosen to do. Remain 100% present in each moment and acknowledge what you have achieved and plan for what’s next. You will enjoy the journey much more with less stress.

Consistently Running Late!…How to Break the Habit
March 4, 2010 by Annette
Today’s Inspiration
If you are the type of person who is consistently running late, then it means you are continually running on adrenaline; even if you are real cool about it. “I will just squeeze this extra thing in before I go”, you say to yourself. If you are wanting to have more time, then you must have a better relationship with your time and not only will you respect yourself, you will also respect the promises you are making with the people in your life.
Coaching Tip
I would like to give you a challenge so that you can have more time. This is it. Be 15 minutes early to everyone (including yourself) that you make a time scheduled meeting promise to. Notice what happens for you around ‘time’. Catch yourself when you are about to squeeze something in when you know you are suppose to be driving to your next appointment.

Are You Moving Towards or Away From?
February 10, 2010 by Annette
Today’s Inspiration
Are you moving towards – or away from – what you truly want in life? Begin today to move towards what you say you want. Many of us live in a world based on ‘Full On’ or ‘Not At All’. If you are not happy in a certain area of your life, before you make a drastic change based on your emotional reaction trying to find happiness, why not listen to what it is you continually keep telling yourself you would love to do ‘and’ begin to take steps towards fulfilment.
Coaching Tip
For example I have heard many people say that they would like to do some volunteer work, coach little league, learn the guitar, spend time playing with their children, take their wife out on regular dates or whatever it is for you. They seem to be waiting for the right time, or a certain amount of money or whatever else they feel they need before they can do these things – it does not have to be a ‘full on’ or ‘not at all’ thing to do.
What happens as soon as you start to do whatever it is you say you would love to do (moving towards it), that is when the changes in life occur, especially in the areas that you feel most drained i.e. work, home life, health etc.

Is It Time to Stop Procrastinating?
February 9, 2010 by Annette
Today’s Inspiration
When left to your own devices there can be a tendency to procrastinate in your action orientation, especially when it relates to a project that takes you out of our comfort zone.
Coaching Tip
By asking someone to hold you accountable in a supportive way, your project/goal will become a ‘positive pressing’ priority. Choose someone who has your best interest at heart and ask them to check in with you to be sure that you are on track. Be sure to celebrate your milestones and end result together.

Behind the Scenes to Greater Success
October 29, 2009 by Annette

Today’s Inspiration
When you take full responsibility in the areas of your life that are important to you by treating yourself and others with nurturing love and self-respect; you will live a life filled with better relationships, have a purposeful and profitable business, great health and fitness and natural self confidence.
Coaching Tip
Do you treat yourself the way you want others to treat you. This was a biggee for me as I was always looking outside of myself to be treated better in so many ways. It was only until I took responsibility and got honest with myself about how I was treating myself – body – mind – soul; others then began to treat me in similar ways. Get really honest with yourself today and begin to treat yourself with love and respect in all ways. This also goes for the way you speak to yourself when challenges occur – notice this one!
Yes, you are good enough in every way to achieve whatever your lifestyle and business vision success is.
Wishing you an Inspirational Day!

6 Most Powerful Steps in Achieving your Projects and Goals
August 25, 2009 by Annette
Life is full of projects and goals. Home related projects such as the garden needs an overhaul or the shed needs clearing – Personal related projects like updating your Will or writing the book you have been dreaming of for years – Work related projects such as reviewing your business plan or updating your website.
One of the most common questions I am asked is ‘how do I overcome procrastination’ and start/complete the things I know I need and want to do? Here is the 6 most powerful steps that will support you in achieving your projects/goals.
1. Write down your project with a deadline
Having a clear end result of your chosen project and a ‘when by date’ are both the ticket to freedom. This can decrease stress by motivating you into action. Any anxiety about completing a project is usually related to ‘inaction’ and this uses up an enormous amount of energy. When you state your readiness to achieve a clearly defined goal with a ‘when by date’ in place, you release this energy into good use towards achieving your project/goals.
2. Choose someone to hold you accountable
Put ’supportive accountability’ in place. When left to our own devices there is a tendency to procrastinate in your action orientation, especially when it relates to a project that takes us out of our comfort zone. By asking someone to hold you accountable in a supportive way, your project/goal will become a ‘positive pressing’ priority. Choose someone who has your best interest at heart and ask them to check in with you to be sure that you are on track. Be sure to celebrate your milestones and end result together.
3. Set a commencement date
Now that you have a clear project, a when by date and someone to hold you accountable, you are ready to set a formal start date. Give yourself time to plan and prepare. Yes plan being the ‘operative’ word. For example if you have a when by date to complete your taxes by July 1st with a start date of June 1st, you will need to give yourself a chance to clear your schedule to get the necessary forms and resources in place before you get into trouble and put yourself under pressure. Too often we plunge into a project without a plan and end up getting frustrated and overwhelm because of underestimation of time frames to get things done.
4. Set clear boundaries to support your progress
Think of this step as casting a wide net around you and your project so you are protected while you work. For example, if you need to complete a report for your job, you will want to schedule uninterrupted time in your office. This might require a conversation with co-workers about needing space and a willingness to avoid emails and phone calls until you have completed the job. Ask yourself “What boundaries do I need to put in place in order to have the emotional and physical space I need to get this project completed?”
5. Take frequent breaks
Often when I coach clients to complete a tough project, they often start with a ‘push through to the end’ mentality. For example, they are willing to work ridiculous hours at the expense of their lives. While this might get the project finished, it forms a negative relationship to project completion which only fuels procrastination in the future. You will want to create a positive relationship by taking frequent breaks. Enjoy the process and give yourself a break during the project planning.
6. Identify your ‘WHY’ – keep them in view
When the project is complete how will your life improve? What are the benefits of completion for you? Identify 3 benefits you will receive from completing your project, put them in writing and keep them in view. There are many benefits to completing a project – the satisfaction of a job well done, the peace of mind that comes from no longer beating yourself up for not acting plus the many physical benefits that go along with your completed project.
Many parts of life is about the process of completing projects in some form or another. What project has been hanging over your head? This month, follow the 6 steps and free yourself from the bonds of incompletion and procrastination so you can enjoy more of your precious time.
“First, have a definite, clear practical idea; a goal, an objective. Second, have the necessary means to achieve your ends; wisdom, money, materials and methods. Third, adjust all your means to that end.” – Aristotle.
