If you want better relationships in your life, then you must first have a great relationship with yourself. This means taking actions that inspire you, looking after your physical body and having a positive mindset that supports you and your heart direction in life.

Coaching Tip

I remember in my sporting days being educated about the ‘no pain – no gain’ philosophy which certainly
created a negative mindset for me. Sure, I certainly succeeded but with the mindset that to get anywhere in
life I had to work really hard at it until I hit a brick wall, and then keep pushing through no matter what.

This is not a sustainable way of living your life if you too have live with the same philosophy. Sure, there are
often life challenges that will certainly stretch you outside of your comfort zone which is a great way to learn
about yourself and better ways of doing things. It does not need to have the hard work way of thinking
attached to it.

How I changed this was to change the relationship I had with myself first – I changed my hard work action
thinking to practice taking inspired action with gentle consistent flow. At the same time, it was important for
me to listen to my physical body needs and to create a daily routine of time-out, exercise and nourishment.
I quickly learnt that how I treated myself and my body always reflected on the attraction and development of
better relationships.
